Moving On but Banked in My Memory
Have decided once again to move on but nevertheless this diversion I took 7 months ago was all worthwhile. Yes, there were the usual bumps and potholes, however I believe I had not just survived the journey but have become a stronger person.
The work that I do is not merely to help the poor and needy but I had the privilege to witness the transformation and determination of the less privileged in gaining not the monetary but the esteem and ownership they so rightly deserve. Interesting, huh? Will tell you more in another post.
Reading the many stories from neighbouring countries and afar, they never fail to inspire my once 'boxed' mind. Being exposed to the many needs and mind you, basic needs of the millions around me taught me Contentment. Not taking for granted running water from the pipe, basic sanitation of the toilet, lights and comfort of the air-conditioner and of course the daily nutritional meals (including the binging of comfort food).
Witnessing the major fund-raising events has also taught me that there is still Hope and much Love in this world especially in our very own country. People do care for the poor and are willing to put what is in their heart into action. Not merely talk but definitely walking the talk.
Experienced a once in a lifetime (I believe) trip to a community we are supporting. Definitely a highlight of my working experience here. Will blog about it soon - it's just that words can hardly describe what I saw and heard for a mere 5 days.
