A Change of Perspective... Blessed I am...

It was just an ordinary day at the shopping mall with my sister - wanting to grab a good buy before the end of the Megasale.. Had a list in mind - working attires (time to change my wardrobe), shoes (the sole of my current shoe is thinning away), bags, sandals, etc. But I came out empty handed. Why, you may ask..

Each time I see something I fancy, I'll take a look at the price tag. Usually, I would not have hesitated to pay RM100 for a pair of shirt. But this time, I thought hard, considering the real need for the shirt. I put it back onto the rack. Yes, I do need it but am I paying for a shirt or the brand?

I've recently return from a mission's trip to NE Thailand and Cambodia.. Doesn't this tells it all.

Villagers came flocking to the medical clinics for free medical check-ups and medication. Men with infected wounds, mothers with malnourished babies and toddlers needing to be dewormed.

The image of a young mother carrying her premature baby is still vivid in my head. The baby is no longer than 40cm, and evidently malnourished and prematurely developed.
His twin did not survive at birth. The surviving child should be incubated in an ICU. But instead he is exposed to the harsh environment and the recuperating mother finds it difficult to feed her young, but the doctor noted that it is important for the young being to be breastfed. The mother needs to build up her immune system and be nourished.

This has definitely tugged my heart and changed my perspective in life. How blessed I am - with a roof above my head, constant flow of clean water, food readily laid on the table, clothes and shoes protecting me from the sun and rain.

I, now think twice on my NEEDS and WANTS. And daily thanking Him for His provision.
